Lettered markings read as the tail of the size string, moulded right after the speed symbol. Here it is on an example tyre.
HL High Load Capacity
Carries a higher load than an Extra Load tyre at the same reference pressure. Standardised by ETRTO in 2021 and adopted in the US in 2023, largely for the extra mass of electric vehicles. HL is marked in front of the size, e.g. HL235/55R19.
